Who is Ms. Hazel James?

Hazel James is an actor. She is also a singer, a writer, an avid reader, occasional dancer, and a rather remarkable organizer. Raised in Ashland, Oregon–the home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival–Hazel has had a deep love for Shakespeare for the majority of her life. She caught the acting bug young. She’d been entertaining and performing for family and friends casually, and when she discovered that one could play and perform as a career she knew exactly what she’d be doing the rest of her life. Hazel acted, sang, and danced her way through high school and, upon graduation, she journeyed to Los Angeles, California to further her acting training. She attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, completing the two year degree course and then continuing on to participate in the school’s Third Year Company. Sandwiched between Hollywood/Vine and Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Ms. James learned a lot about life in her time in the city of Hollywood. There was a great deal of growing and many things changed, but one thing that did not change was Ms. James’s love for acting. In fact, the changes and lessons only increased her passion and drive for acting and all of the work that comes with it.

Hazel James has been described by some as “classic” and “graceful”, by many as “kind” and “hardworking”, and by herself as “silly” and “nerdy”. Spend some time with her and discover that she’s a fairly even combination of all of these adjectives. In all honesty, Hazel doesn’t particularly mind what you call her, so long as you’re calling to tell her “you got the part”. But then again, she isn’t desperate. She prefers to work in an environment that is just as direct, professional, diligent, and–of course–silly as she is.
